The short version

We collect your name and contact details when you fill in a form asking us to get in touch. We use them to get in touch. That is it.

We do not sell your information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not add you to a marketing list you did not ask for. If you want your details deleted, email us and we will delete them.

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, and only after you agree to it. If you say no, or your browser tells us not to track you, no analytics cookies are set at all.

2. What we collect

When you fill in one of our forms, we collect what you type into it:

We ask for the minimum we need to reply to you properly. Please do not put confidential or privileged information into a website form.

When you visit the site, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include your IP address, the pages requested and your browser type. These are a normal part of running a website securely.

If you agree to analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects information about how you use the site: which pages you visit, how long you stay, roughly where in the world you are, and what referred you here. If you do not agree, none of this is collected.

We do not collect any special category or sensitive personal information, and nothing on this site is designed to invite it.

3. Why we collect it, and what allows us to

What Why What allows us to
Your form details To reply to your inquiry and, if it goes further, to discuss working together Our legitimate interest in responding to someone who has asked us to contact them. Under POPIA, processing necessary to pursue a legitimate interest.
Server logs To keep the site running, secure and available Our legitimate interest in operating the site safely
Analytics To understand what people find useful and improve the site Your consent. Nothing is set until you give it, and you can withdraw it at any time.

We do not use your information to make any automated decision that affects you.

4. Who else sees it

We use a small number of service providers who process information on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for advertising. We do not pass it to any other business.

We will disclose information where the law requires it, or where we need to establish or defend a legal claim.

Where your information goes. We operate from South Africa and use service providers based mainly in the United States and the European Union, so your information is transferred across borders. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, those transfers rely on the standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision. Where POPIA applies, they rely on section 72.

5. How long we keep it

We delete sooner if you ask.

6. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

Email info@ackerfordsolutions.com. We will respond within 30 days. We will not treat you any differently for asking.

If you are in the EU or UK, these are your rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR, and you can also object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent for analytics at any time. You have the right to complain to your national data protection authority, and in the UK to the Information Commissioner's Office.

If you are in South Africa, these are your rights under POPIA. You can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at enquiries@inforegulator.org.za.

If you are in the United States, several states give residents rights over their personal information. Some of those laws do not apply to a business of our size, but we will honour requests of this kind from anyone who makes one rather than checking whether we are obliged to.

We honour Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends the signal, we treat it as a refusal of analytics and set nothing.

7. How we protect it

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to inquiry data is restricted to Coenie Ackermann. We keep the number of tools that touch personal information deliberately small.

No system is completely secure and we cannot promise absolute security.

8. Children

This site is for businesses. It is not directed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has sent us something, email us and we will delete it.

9. Changes

We will update this policy when what we do changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is material, we will make it obvious on the site and, where the change affects cookies, ask for your consent again.
